VHLEJ is a widened version of the Rhutan Long EZ and is one of, if not THE best, Long EZ in the country. As in all kit Long EZ's it was built from rolls of glass mat and drums of resin. No factory made parts in these kits. As a consequence it took John nearly 10 years to complete this aircraft.
But his painstaking work has reaped rewards with the aircraft awarded Concors D'Elegance (Translates to The best aircraft on the airfield) at the SAAA Convention 2008 and then best Canard at this year's Convention.
